We are doing up the Woolshed – giving it some love so it hopefully lasts another hundred years.

In a box was a jumble of old Minifigs Austrians I acquired about 1980 off a guy. To be honest, I think that some of the infantry figures were homecast but cannot be totally sure.

The original figures were painted in enamels and had suffered from being in a box for literally forty plus years.

My farmhand has applied some love to them and this is what they look like now. We are going to buy some command figures, some Grenzers and a few more bearskinned Greandiers. Probably create 10 battalions or so from this lot. Also have Minifigs Austrian artillery, and maybe four or five cavalry regiments.

Hope the Woolshed turns out as well as these did. Nice job on their refurbishment.

  The brain does funny things. I read Australians. I then saw 1980s and for some reason I thought of some sorts of brushfire wars Australians and NZs may have done in the 1960-1990s and thought ‘that’d be some nice minis to have’.
  
  When I finally noted it was ‘Austrians’, I was less interesting. I am impressed with how well they worked out though! Your pal could give a lesson on how to clean up the older minis so they can be repainted…. that’d be something! I’ve got a lot of 15mm Martian Metals and other minis from the 1980s and early 1990s that were probably lead rather than anything else and I’d love to save some of the older ones….

Nice work on the Brian. Makes me think I should pull out my old Minifig Russians and do the same to them at some stage.

Old Minifigs have that toy soldier vibe! They fairly scream out for a high-gloss finish!
