I have spent a fair amount of my life painting these miniatures and when I get them on the table I seem to spend way too much time handling them. It makes actual gaming take longer than it needs to – moving all those individual bases. It also increases chance of damage as fat fingers fumble around a multitude of bases.

As usual I am late to the movement trays party but here I am. Got got this tray (well a couple of dozen of them) made for me from mdf. These are for any of my units based on six 40x50mm bases. Column bases are also in my future. The figures now stand a bit proud from the table but that extra 3mm is more than compensated by the ease of moving the unit.

I can really recommend you try these.

  1. Nice.

Personally I hate fiddly, so I went further and based my figures on big bases, thus leaving out the middle man (the small bases)

I have a lot of these ready to be made up and did a few for our ancients game that I never ended up using. They are much easier than watching players having to grapple with small bases when trying to move a unit, especially when you are at full stretch across the table.
